ALI LOVE – DEEP INTO THE NIGHT

Ali Love Pump

London-based producer/vocalist Ali Love, lead singer of the Hot Natured collective and one half of house duo Infinity Ink, has revealed details of his forthcoming full-length album titled “P.U.M.P.”, the follow-up to 2010′s “Love Harder”. The new record is scheduled to drop on July 14th via Crosstown Rebels, but before then, we’re treated to a full stream of his new single “Deep Into The Night”, a proper late-night house heater that finds him in top form.

The 12-track record will feature last year’s single “Emperor” with additional vocals from Kali, as well as a collaboration with Kenny Glasgow (of Art Department fame). In his own words: “Initially I didn’t set out to make an album, rather this music has come naturally over a long period. It’s informed by the broad spectrum of music tribes I’ve encountered on my ongoing journey into sound. This is music made for the love of just making it.”

Northern Lights feat Banger – Mr and Mrs

A twist on a raw indian (Desi) bhangra Music video for Northern Lights featuring Banger. Our mission was set out to create an edgy, non conformal Bhangra music video which encompassed a dramatic contrast effect using speed. The high energy track dominates the dance floor with its high tempo beats and we wanted to coincide this energy with very distinct speed ramps from 400fps.
The storyline follows a domestic situation between a husband and wife which ultimately results in a standoff with the indian matchmaker trying to create harmony. Unfortunately pride and emotions are too high for the couple and a conclusion is made.

Banky W – Jassie

Empire Mates Entertainment is proud to present the official video for Banky W’s “Jasi”. The song was produced by MasterKraft, and features additional background vocals by EME starlet Niyola. The hilarious clip was shot in Lagos, Nigeria and London.
“Jasi” highlights Banky W’s playfulness AND versatility. Very few artistes worldwide are able to change styles as effortlessly as Mr W can… and here we see him temporarily set aside his “King of Afro-R&B” crown to pull off this Afrobeats/Afropop club banger, and it works quite well. The video also shows his acting skills as Banky plays more than one role, in the same scene, in the vein of an Eddie Murphy or Tyler Perry.

Shot by Uber Director Sesan, the video is quite hilarious and features cameos from MasterKraft, and Lynxxx… and we hope you have as much fun watching it, as we did filming it. Here’s to Africa’s most versatile Artist, Banky W.

Music Remains – A Recorded Music Rube Goldberg Machine

A 90-second race through time filmed at London’s world-famous Abbey Road studios

Music Remains - A Recorded Music Rube Goldberg Machine

Commissioned by IFPI, representing record labels worldwide, the film was created by music industry creative director Steve Milbourne, working with director Martin Stirling at Unit 9 Films. They built a Rube Goldberg machine showing recorded music technologies changing over the decades. An ingenious chain reaction cascades through the generations, beginning with a gramophone and ending with an iPad.

The film is made in a striking and technically challenging one-shot, ending with a simple message: “You’re the one thing that always remains – music.”

Up-and-coming musician and innovative MC, Pepstar performs lyrics about what recorded music means to him over a soundtrack that moves through iconic music tracks of the last 100 years.

The whole project was filmed in two days in Abbey Road’s Studio No. 2. Behind the scenes, a short “making of” documentary was also made. It shows how the production was put together, the building of the Rube Goldberg Machine and the 48 “takes” that had to be tried before a successful run of the machine was made.

“The idea was to convey the message that, while technology may be continuously changing, recorded music is always at the centre of people’s lives”, says Steve Milbourne. “At the same time, we wanted to it to be a very personal story. Pepstar’s lyrics are about key experiences – from the meeting of our parents to childhood memories, first girlfriends and family tragedy.”

Leading production company Unit9 was employed to produce the piece, with resident Director Martin Stirling and Producer Elliot Tagg helping to bring the idea to life. The Rube Goldberg machine itself was built by London-based art directors Sets Appeal.

The result is a beautiful, technically impressive and compelling one-shot video.

Commenting on the project, IFPI chief executive Frances Moore says: “Music Remains is a celebration of recorded music, but there’s also an educational side to the film as it shows in a world with ever changing technology the constant value of music. We hope people enjoy the film, play it many times and share it with their friends.”
